Volunteers

Volunteers are the heart and soul of S.O.M.A. In 2022 we had 151 volunteers that put in 1936.5 hours of volunteer time. That’s watering flowers, putting on events, and beautifying Monticello with one of our projects. Those hours don’t include meetings and the planning of events. We can’t THANK all our volunteers enough!

Flower Pot Committee

Beth Girtz & Jan Faker lead the flower pot committee. These ladies put in countless hours planning, planting, watering, and making our flower pots absolutely gorgeous every summer and winter! They have a team that takes care of the flowers all summer long! We are always looking for more volunteers to help with the flowers!

Projects

Our biggest project is complete! The Monticello Walk-Through between Flagstar (old Wells Fargo) and the old Mexican Grocery Store. Sharon McKinley and the design team have transformed an unused space into a beautiful area to enjoy your lunch, visit with friends around the fireplace, and enjoy downtown Monticello. More projects will be coming up in the future! Volunteer to help!

Events

We host multiple events for friends and families to enjoy downtown Monticello. A Free Ice Cream Social. Barktober Downtown Dog Walk for our animal lovers, and the Downtown Trunk -or-Treat Event to name just a few of the things we do. We need volunteers to help plan events, and to work the many jobs the day of the event! If you love Monticello as much as we do…. volunteer to help us!
